Last week, our learners combined ELA skills on literary devices with Social Studies knowledge of Medieval Europe and the Black Death from the A+ College Ready curriculum to analyze allegory, tone, and symbolism in Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death.”
Inspired by Poe’s use of symbolism, students got creative by decorating their own plague masks with symbols representing the Black Death. What a fun way to mix literature, history, and Halloween spirit!

Mrs. McColl and our National Art Junior Honor Society officers — Ellie, Amzie, and Kathleen — spent Wednesday evening earning community service hours and spreading creativity at Christ Methodist’s Hallowednesday Trunk or Treat!
